What is infrared sauna therapy?

While the word ‘sauna’ might bring to mind a steam-filled room and high temperatures, infrared sauna therapy offers a different experience.

Instead of using steam to provide heat, an infrared sauna gently warms the body using infrared lights. Traditional saunas use heat to warm the air, causing the body temperature to rise as well. Infrared saunas heat the body directly so that the heat is felt deeper than just on the skin. Infrared saunas are also effective at a lower temperature, between 120 and 140 degrees, compared to traditional saunas, usually between 150 and 180 degrees.

What are the benefits of infrared sauna therapy?

Relaxation

The heat relaxes tense muscles and can help with recovery from working out or muscle injury.

Increased Circulation

As the temperature rises, your heart rate increases and your blood vessels dilate, increasing blood flow to the skin and overall blood circulation.

Detox

Infrared saunas have been found more effective than traditional saunas for detoxing the body. As you sweat, the body naturally eliminates toxins such as phthalates.

And More

Infrared sauna therapy stimulates cardiovascular, immune and lymphatic systems. Because of this, regular sessions have been known to help with anxiety, immune system function, relief from joint pain, and cardiovascular issues. In the winter, sessions are an effective way to combat seasonal affective disorder.

Infrared sauna therapy is available at Esther’s Wellhouse. Sessions can be booked individually or by purchasing a 10-session series.
